Donetsk region operatives have exposed a pro-Russian militant who fired on Ukrainian soldiers and civilians in Avdiivka
Previously, the convicted Mariupol fought “on the front line” as part of the illegal armed formation “Vostok”. The militant in the position of machine-gunner corrected artillery fire from the “DPR” and directed targeted fire on positions of the Armed Forces. Later he deserted from the military unit and secretly returned to Mariupol.
The criminal activity of the defendant was documented by the operatives of the sector of protection of public interests and the state of the police of Donetsk region and the investigative department of the Mariupol RUP together with the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the Donetsk Border Detachment under the procedural leadership of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office.
It was established that in 2015, a resident of Mariupol came to Donetsk for work. Representatives of the illegal military group “DPR” recruited the man in a rehabilitation center, where he ended up due to alcohol abuse. From a special institution, the patient, despite a criminal record and alcohol dependence, entered the contract service of a motor rifle company. The mercenary was given weapons and sent to the advanced positions near Donetsk (near the village of Zhabunki, the former Yasinovatsky post of the traffic police).
The police obtained evidence that the 43-year-old defendant fought under the leadership of the commander of the regiment of the “Army Corps of the DPR”, who is a citizen of the Russian Federation.
At this time, fierce battles were fought, and the population of Avdiyivka suffered from constant blows of the enemy. A supporter of “Russian peace” acted as a fire adjuster during shelling, and also shelled settlements with a machine gun and a machine gun. According to the militant, on the orders of the Russian military, his unit regularly carried out “shooting” of forest plantations on the outskirts of the city. As a result of these attacks, residents of the private sector located nearby were killed and injured.
In addition, a member of the Vostok NSF guarded a strategic facility in the “red zone” — a bridge, fortified trenches and patrolled the streets of occupied Donetsk during the “curfew”.
For a year of service “on the front line”, the militant received only about 45,000 rubles and injuries. Therefore, in 2016, the “fighter” deserted and went into hiding.
For several years, the man was interrupted by random earnings and repeatedly underwent treatment for alcoholism. Unable to withstand life in the occupation, Mariupolec secretly returned to his hometown, where he found a permanent job. He hid his participation in the war against Ukraine.
However, the mercenary will have to answer for his actions before the law - the police have collected enough evidence to bring the attacker to justice.
The defendant was declared suspected of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Creation of armed groups not provided for by law or participation in their activities). He faces up to 8 years in prison.
