Operation Polissya: law enforcement officers ensure order on the border with Belarus
The joint special border operation “Polissya” lasts a month. It is coordinated by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is carried out jointly with the forces of the National Guard, the National Police, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the SBU, the State Emergency Service, and other involved reserves and takes place within five regions bordering Belarus.
The main task of the operation is to ensure security in the border areas and directly on the border of Ukraine with Belarus, in particular, to increase capacities for rapid response to attempts of mass violation of the state border by migrants. For this purpose, the reserves of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, the National Police are stationed in the border areas. In case of a sharp change in the situation, the possibility of prompt arrival of reserves to any part of the border within 30-60 minutes has been worked out. For this purpose, the use of helicopters, cars and special equipment is provided.
As part of the operation, the mechanisms of response to the aggravation of the situation were worked out, which involve the organization of interaction of law enforcement agencies, local authorities, and the public.
Recall that the work of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters under the leadership of the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service was organized to guide the operation and the operational exchange of information.
Significantly intensified work on the engineering arrangement of the state border, this process received financial and material support from the Government and local authorities.
Aviation, drones, as well as technical means of surveillance are actively used to protect the border.
During the operation, no violation of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border outside the checkpoints was recorded. At the checkpoints, only one attempt to enter Ukraine was recorded by 15 foreigners from the Middle East, who could not confirm the purpose of arrival in our country.
Attempts of enemy propaganda to compromise the activities carried out as part of Operation Polissya were also recorded. In particular, there were several attempts to spread fake information about the alleged detention and execution of groups of illegals by the Ukrainian military. This information was promptly discovered and refuted.
During the joint special border operation “Polissya” implemented all the necessary set of measures — from the system of management of the forces involved — to the coordination of actions at the state border.
The joint special border operation “Polissya” continues, and the experience of its implementation will be taken into account in other parts of the border.
