Operation Polissya: the Ministry of Internal Affairs strengthens the border with Belarus in the Chernobyl exclusion zone in the Kiev region
Today, November 24, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mary Akopyan inspected the progress of the fortification of the northern border of the country in the Kiev region, near the city of Chernobyl.
The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone accounts for 34 km of the state border common with Belarus.
Yevgeny Yenin reported that within the framework of the joint special border operation “Polissya”, border guards are intensively deploying checkpoints.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs organized the work of coordination headquarters, combined their work at the central and regional levels. And in the district - coordination groups of management were formed - everything to make it easier and more efficient to manage the special operation, and the exchange of information took place instantly.
“We control the main roads leading to the border. There will also be an inspection of bus stations and stations and we will carry out preventive measures in border settlements. We will not allow any artificial influences of the “fraternal” states on Ukraine!” he assured.
The deputy minister also said that already now reinforcements are arriving at the border - 8,500 troops, as mentioned earlier by Denis Monastyrsky. Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs use aviation, drones and other technical means of surveillance to patrol and monitor.
Tactical training has also begun today. All scenarios of possible escalation of the migration crisis in border towns and villages are being worked out.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko recalled that the fighters of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard and the National Police began a complex of measures aimed at the coordination of forces to protect public order in the cities and districts bordering the Republic of Belarus.
“These measures are aimed at the coherence of the actions of the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border and Migration Service in order to ensure order in the border territories. During this and next week, we will work out algorithms for possible actions of migrants, so it is important that law enforcement agencies are prepared for all possible scenarios,” Igor Klymenko said.
“Ensuring law and order on the border territory of the Kyiv region is significantly complicated by the fact that the border is located on the territory of the exclusion zone,” said the head of the police of the Kiev region Andriy Nevitov. “That is why we have to work out the sequence of actions of all departments in case of illegal entry of foreign citizens into the territory of Ukraine.”
Recall that as part of the strengthening of border protection with Belarus, a special border operation “Polissya” was launched.
