Operation “Carpathian 2021" is a response to the crime that intensified at the border
In Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, on the initiative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a joint border operation “Carpathian 2021" was launched. In these areas, joint patrols of border guards appeared with servicemen of the National Guard, police, representatives of other bodies. It is also possible to appear on certain paths of joint control posts.
These are the elements of the operation that will be observed in the border regions. The operation itself involves a much broader and longer range of measures, both on the border and in the rear areas of Ukraine. Representatives of various law enforcement, law enforcement, fiscal bodies of Ukraine are involved in it. There will also be cooperation with border guards of neighboring countries. In particular, after a strict quarantine, joint patrols on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border have already resumed (only vaccinated border guards are involved). Work is underway to restore joint patrols with the staff of the Slovak and Romanian border agencies.
In addition, the cooperation and exchange of information with the European Agency “FRONTEX”, Interpol, Europol will be closely organized during the operation.
Before the start of the operation “Carpathian 2021", a coordination meeting was held in the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. In addition to border guards, representatives of the state migration, customs, tax services of Ukraine, the National Police, the National Guard, the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine took part. During the meeting, it was emphasized that there is an intensification of illegal activities on the border with the EU countries and in the border areas in Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions, which was facilitated by weather conditions and the easing of quarantine restrictions in Ukraine and the EU countries. And violations exposed by border guards and other law enforcement agencies are often planned and organized tens to hundreds of kilometers from the border. A vivid example was the recent detention at the airfield near Berdichev of a plane that illegally flew from Ukraine through Moldova into Romanian airspace and vice versa. Violators crossed the state border at the site of the Chernivtsi detachment a few hundred kilometers from the take-off point.
The participants of the meeting agreed to actively exchange information, including operational, organize and conduct joint events, provide prompt response to each detected fact of illegal activity.
During the operation, operational, search and analytical units will cooperate closely. Operational response units will be used to implement their information. In certain areas, manned and unmanned aviation, special equipment of the bodies involved in the operation, will also be used.
The joint activity of the participants of the operation is aimed not only at the detention of the executors at the border, but also at the detection of all participants of illegal schemes, including the organizers, as well as the identification of places of accumulation of goods, places of stay, employment of illegal migrants, facilities for the production of counterfeit products, etc.
