People's Deputies of Ukraine — Members of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Law Enforcement Activities visited ODUVS with a working visit
Today, May 26, at Odessa State University of Internal Affairs there was a working meeting of People's Deputies of Ukraine — members of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Law Enforcement Activities and representatives of the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine with the leadership and scientific and pedagogical staff of the university, as well as the leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odessa region.
At the beginning of the meeting, the rector of the university, Vyacheslav Abroskin, congratulated the participants, noting the importance of holding the event at the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.
The issues discussed concerned the state of law and order in the region, the fight against organized crime, as well as the legislative provision of departmental education and certain areas of implementation of the Concept of Development of Legal Education.
Within the framework of the discussion, the report of the head of the GUNP in the Odessa region of the police general of the third rank Oleg Bekh on the criminogenic situation in the region and the results of operational and service activities of his subordinate unit in 2019-2021 was heard.
The head of the police of Odessa region noted that thanks to the measures taken, the number of registered especially serious crimes decreased by 13%, serious crimes - by 16%, serious bodily injuries - by 13%, thefts - by 31%, thefts in citizens' homes - by 8%, robberies - 33% less, robberies - by 33% less, robberies of attacks - by 7%, extortion - by 27%, fraud - by 28% less.
“I want to emphasize that we are critical of the evaluation of the performance of our activities as a whole and ensure the implementation of further measures to solve problematic issues in the work of the police of Odessa region. This is the detection of crimes on the “hot trail”, staffing and strengthening the personnel potential of police units, increasing the level of interaction between investigators and criminal police, strengthening operational positions in the criminal environment,” the head of the GUNP noted.
“The main criterion for determining the effectiveness of police activity is, first of all, the level of trust of the population, while the final indicator of the presence of positive achievements of law enforcement activity is the interaction of the police and the public on the basis of partnership and transparency. It is these areas of activity that are priorities when we fulfill the tasks and functions of the police,” added Oleg Bech.
After the discussion, the participants of the event got acquainted with the educational and material base of the university, visited the museum and multifunctional training grounds that are used in the educational process of the university.
