Odessa law enforcement officers exposed two poachers in the Tuzlovsky Estuary National Park
50-year-old and 44-year-old residents of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district caught almost three thousand mullet fish with nets. According to preliminary estimates of the inspectors of the Black Sea Fish Guard Patrol, they caused losses to the fishing industry of Ukraine in the amount of more than 1.7 million hryvnias.
The offenders were exposed during the joint raid by employees of the water police sector, the fish guard patrol and border guards. They seized a rubber boat, 11 nets with a total length of almost 500 meters and more than 240 kg of illegally caught fish.
Information on this fact is included in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For illegal occupation of fish mining, men face a fine of one thousand to three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or restriction of liberty for up to three years.
