Illegally deprived of liberty, demanded 8 thousand dollars. US and took away cars: Poltava region police detained a criminal group led by a “sleuth”
The organizer and members of the group were detained in the city. Uman and Poltava, yesterday, November 10. The so-called “spotter”, three of his accomplices and a local businessman have already been informed of suspicions under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing preventive measures is being resolved.
On Wednesday, November 10, operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Poltava region, criminal investigation and investigators of the police of the region exposed a criminal group that operated under the control of a so-called 31-year-old “spy” from Poltava.
In October this year, a local businessman turned to the “criminal authority” to help him “punish” his “offenders”. The man intended to receive compensation “for misconduct” from a group of local residents with whom he had a domestic conflict. At the direction of the “spectator”, his four accomplices, some of whom had previously had problems with the law, organized the process of “punishment”.
The latter, by force and threats, forced the victim to give them 8 thousand US dollars. However, during the transfer of funds, the attackers put a package on the man's head, pushed him against the car with force and took him to the premises, where they forced him to give them a certain amount of money by beating and threats. Not having received what they wanted, they took the victim's car, took it outside the city, where they left it.
Immediately after the man's appeal to the police, the operatives of the departments of strategic investigations, criminal investigation and investigators took the necessary measures to identify the persons involved.
On November 10, in Uman, Cherkasy region, with the strong support of the special unit KORD and employees of the strategic investigations departments of the Poltava and Cherkasy regions, a “spy” outside the city and one of the members of the group were detained. Another one — in Poltava — was detained by criminal investigation agents of the regional police and the USSR.
Based on the evidence received, investigators of the regional police informed the leader of the group and three participants about suspicions under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- part 2 of article 146 (unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping of a person); - part 2 of article 189 (extortion); - h. 2 Art. 289 (illegal possession of a vehicle).
In addition, the “criminal authority” was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 255-1 (establishment or dissemination of criminal influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the man who asked for the use of criminal influence — according to Art. 255-3 (application for the use of criminal influence).
The issue of choosing preventive measures is being resolved. Measures are also underway to determine the whereabouts of two more suspects.
The procedural guidance in the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office.
