On the eve of Easter, rescuers carry out preventive work in religious buildings
This year, the celebration of Easter falls on May 2. Traditionally, rescuers begin preventive work in religious buildings in advance in order for the festive events to pass safely.
Thus, on April 23, specialists of the Kropyvnytskyi District Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kirovograd region conducted preventive work in the religious buildings of the city of Kropyvnytskyi in order to prevent fires during festive services. Emergency workers reminded the abbots of temples about the basic requirements of fire safety, gave briefings on actions in the event of a fire or other emergency events, handed out leaflets with warnings. Rescuers inspected the primary means of extinguishing the fire, ascertained whether the electrical network and the fire alarm system were working and reliable, and whether the evacuation routes were cluttered. To the parishioners who were present in the temples during the preventive work, the rescuers reminded the rules for the safe handling of candles and lamps, and urged to immediately call the Rescue Service at 101 in the event of a fire.
At the same time, the rescuers of Vinnytsia held a preventive conversation with the abbots of religious buildings located on the territory of Ladyzhyn City Council. Specialists of the State Emergency Service drew the attention of clergy to the need to maintain in good condition electrical networks, proper condition of evacuation routes, availability of primary means of fire extinguishing in the premises. In addition, they emphasized strict adherence to fire safety rules, especially when using open fire during divine services. Also, rescuers reminded the abbots of the churches of the procedure in case of fire and demonstrated how to use the primary means of fire extinguishing.
On April 22, in Donetsk region, Mariupol rescuers visited the Church of St. Ambrose of Optina, Parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and reminded clergy and parishioners how to prevent a fire. In particular, they said that being in the temple, you need to be careful with open fire. During the conversation, the rescue service employees paid special attention to the presence of fire extinguishers, evacuation routes that should be kept free at all times and not cluttered, for the presence of fire safety signs.
In turn, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, rescuers conducted inspections of religious buildings, which are located on the territory of the city of Dnipro. Employees of the State Emergency Service pointed out the violations identified and provided methodical recommendations for their elimination, responsible for fire safety. Fire briefings were conducted with clergy and temple workers, during which rescuers recalled the first actions in the event of a fire and the procedure for evacuating parishioners. Clergy once again emphasized the use of primary means of fire extinguishing. Memorandum on measures to ensure fire safety during mass events was also presented.
And in Khmelnytskyi region, firefighters conducted tactical and special training on extinguishing conditional fire in the St. Dmitrievsky Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in the village of Staryi Kryvyn, in order to check the readiness of the interaction of specialized services of the Netishyn urban territorial community and improve skills and practices actions during the elimination of emergency situations.
So, what the workers of the Rescue Service pay attention to:
proper condition of evacuation exits and sources of fire water supply;
the presence of a sufficient number of serviceable fire extinguishers in the room;
compliance with fire safety rules during divine services and at other times.
Also, rescuers advised to constantly maintain the power grid in proper condition, monitor the serviceability of electrical appliances and furnace heating, and systematically check the ventilation system.
Such events will continue until the start of the Easter holidays.
Rescuers once again appeal to citizens with a request to observe the rules of fire safety in religious buildings! Be careful during worship services! Observe quarantine measures and avoid crowded places. Remember, in the event of a fire, call 101 immediately!
