On the eve of the Nativity of Christ, rescuers urged clergy to observe fire safety rules during divine services
Already on Friday, January 7, Ukrainians will celebrate one of the largest religious holidays - Christmas of Christ. At the same time, the festive services will begin on the eve of Christmas Eve. They are associated with the massive use of open fire, in particular candles and lamps. Therefore, in order to avoid dangerous situations during the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, rescuers urge priests to pay attention to the observance of fire safety requirements in religious buildings.
To do this, specialists of the Rescue Service inspect churches and temples, conduct firefighting briefings with clergy.
So, on January 4, rescuers of Sumy region visited the religious buildings of the city of Konotop. Employees of the State Emergency Service explained what elementary rules of fire safety must be systematically followed in preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Christ. Particular attention was paid to security measures, the implementation of which will be the key to preventing the occurrence of emergency situations. Separately, rescuers focused on how to properly use the primary means of fire extinguishing. For better assimilation of the information received, the clergy were handed thematic leaflets with a list of basic safety requirements.
In turn, the employees of the Nizhyn district department of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region carried out preventive inspections of the state of ensuring fire and man-made safety of religious institutions of the district. Rescuers conducted fire-fighting briefings with the abbots of the temples, inspected the state of electrical networks and appliances, evacuation routes, as well as primary means of fire extinguishing for compliance with the requirements of regulations. During the preventive work, emergency responders recalled the algorithm of priority actions in the event of a fire, other emergency and provided preventive leaflets on life safety issues.
On January 5, the specialists of the State Emergency Service of Poltava region conducted additional firefighting briefings with clergy of religious buildings in the communities of Lubensky district. During communication, rescuers reminded representatives of the clergy about the rules of fire safety, rules of conduct during a fire, evacuation, and the use of primary means of fire extinguishing. Also, rescuers filled the security corners of religious buildings with visual campaigning materials and handed out themed leaflets.
In addition, traditionally on the eve of the Christmas holidays, rescuers visited the dean's meeting of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archeparchy of the UGCC in order to once again remind what fire safety rules should be observed during this period. Specialists of the State Emergency Service emphasized the mandatory availability of primary means of fire extinguishing in temples; recalled that they needed to monitor the serviceability of electrical appliances, proper maintenance of evacuation routes, and also determined places for safe installation of candles. The abbots of the temples repeated the basic fire rules that should be observed in religious buildings, told about cases of fires in churches in the region, indicating the reasons for their occurrence. During the preventive and explanatory conversation, the procedure for the occurrence of a fire was also explained. Employees of the State Emergency Service stressed that in religious buildings the rate of spread of fire is very high, because many such structures are wooden and have a large fire load. Also, the staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine urged the clergy of the church to constantly convey warnings about the prevention of fires in everyday life to every believer, in order to prevent fire and prevent trouble.
