They attacked “currency traders” and took money - Lviv police reported suspicion to 8 members of the criminal group
Suspects “worked” on the territory of Lviv and Khmelnytsky regions. Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures for them is being decided.
Last year, the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Lviv region of the National Police received information about the activities of a criminal group, whose interest is exclusively persons engaged in currency exchange. During its inspection, the police not only identified the members of the group, but also obtained evidence of their involvement in the commission of several episodes in the territory of the two areas.
Thus, the group consisted of eight people — residents of Lviv. Acted according to a clearly developed plan and thought out in advance the ways of departure for the “completion of the operation”. The attackers carefully studied the lifestyle of potential “victims”, work schedules, addresses of stay and routes of movement. As a rule, the so-called “currency traders” fell into the field of view of the group. The attack took place during a car stop of the victims, where by smashing windows, the attackers took their funds.
In addition, to monitor the victims, as well as mobility to move to the crime scene and leave, those involved used a number of cars of different brands, colors and license plates, including those with foreign registration, as well as scooters.
During the pre-trial investigation, the operatives and investigators of the regional police received evidence of the involvement of the members of the criminal group in the commission of three episodes in the territory of Lviv and Khmelnytskyi. In Khmelnytskyi, the attackers took $50,000 from the victim, and in Lviv they tried to seize the funds of the two victims for a total amount of almost 2.6 million UAH.
Today, on January 4, eight members of the group were informed by the police about the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 5 of Art. 186 (robbery committed on a particularly large scale or by an organized group), Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 186 and Part 2 of Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Also on the basis of the decision of the Galician district court of the city. Lviv, with the strong support of the special purpose police regiment officers, conducted searches of the places of residence and vehicles of the defendants. They seized backpacks, personal belongings, license plates, including foreign registration, weapons, BMW cars, Volkswagen Passat and other items confirming the criminal activity of the suspects.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for intruders is resolved. The procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The sanction of the incriminated articles provides for punishment - imprisonment from four to thirteen years with confiscation of property.
