Emergency worker Alexander Khomenko saved a girl who was attacked by a man at a public transport stop
Recently, an extraordinary event occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. With only a brief message, she flashed on the pages of social networks and in criminal reports of the police.
A rescuer of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kiev region from the window of a shuttle taxi saw that at a public transport stop some man grabbed the girl by the hair and tried to throw it to the ground. Without wasting time, Oleksandr Khomenko, ran out of the minibus and pushed the attacker away from the girl. It turned out that at the time of the attack, this man had a knife. There were only women at the stop and it was necessary to immediately repel the aggressor, because it was visible to the naked eye that the person was mentally unbalanced. After another throw with his hand with a knife in the direction of Alexander, our rescuer was not confused and broke his arm, trying to put the offender on the ground. After several attempts, he succeeded, but the attacker severely injured Alexander's arm. Dripping with blood, he kept the assailant on the ground and, fortunately, two more passers-by appeared, who called the police to the scene. The police immediately called an ambulance for Alexander and took the attacker to the NP department.
Within a few days, after recovering from the attack, a young girl who had been attacked by a mentally ill man found her savior and expressed words of gratitude.
This story had a happy ending thanks to the indifference and courage of Alexander. But... this is not the first case in the life of a guy who, by the call of his heart, became a rescuer and by profession. In 2018, Alexander Khomenko was awarded the nomination “Hero - Rescuer of the Year”. Then the man witnessed the accident and, without getting lost, pulled the driver out of the burning car and the passenger from the back seat, which also turned out to be in hope. And trying to extinguish the fire, he himself suffered during the explosion, received severe burns.
It was this case that led Alexander to the ranks of the State Emergency Service of Kiev region. When he received the award from the hands of the President, all he asked was to become a professional rescuer. And his dream came true. Now Alexander Khomenko is an ordinary civil protection service, a rescuer, a hero by vocation and by profession.
