The National Police exposed a criminal scheme to embezzle funds of the state enterprise “Ukrhimtransamiak”
Officials of the state-owned enterprise purchased special equipment at inflated prices.
The “scheme” was exposed by the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations together with the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
During the investigation, it was established that the officials of the state-owned enterprise during public procurement by manipulating the tender documentation purchased equipment at prices significantly higher than the market. As a result of such actions, millions of losses were caused to the state.
Criminal proceedings are investigated under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Procedural management is carried out by the Office of the Attorney General.
For the appropriation, squandering of property or possession of it by abuse of official position, the applicable legislation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of seven to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years and with confiscation of property.
