The National Police, together with Facebook, launch an alert system that will facilitate the search for missing children
The implementation of AMBER Alert takes place in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
In the event of a child's disappearance, Facebook will distribute AMBER notifications among social network users precisely in the search areas where he/she was last seen. These notifications will include detailed information and a photo of the baby. Users of the social network will be able to get all the details about the disappeared/disappeared, as well as share them with friends on the platform.
Facebook has supported the youth police and cyber police initiative - and from today AMBER Alert will become another tool in the search for missing children.
Emily Vacher, Facebook's head of trust and security, notes that for the company, community safety is paramount:
“Ukraine is the 25th country in the world where Facebook launches AMBER Alert. We are proud to cooperate with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the National Police of Ukraine to make a system that helps children and their families accessible to Ukrainians. When a child goes missing, the most important thing we can do is inform the public as soon as possible. We hope that by providing the right information to the right people at the right time with AMBER notifications on Facebook, we will help missing children get back to their families as soon as possible.”
The head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko noted that citizens receive a lot of notifications on the phone every day, and everyone has such messages that everyone responds to instantly.
“I ask you to add to the list of important messages AMBER Alert, the Facebook service that reports the disappearance of children. This digital tool, by determining your location, sends notifications about children who have disappeared nearby. This is the moment of uniting the efforts of the police and the entire Facebook community for one goal - to save the child from possible danger. Because during the search, every minute can be decisive. Therefore, we welcome the introduction of AMBER Alert service in Ukraine. And we hope for the indifference and help of all Facebook users,” said the Head of the National Police of Ukraine.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, said: “We are launching an extremely important digital tool in Ukrainian Facebook — AMBER Alert. This is a special system of prompt alerts about missing children in a certain area. With AMBER Alert, Facebook users in their news feed will be able to see a photo of the baby and where to turn if they have seen it. As world experience shows, timely notification of the disappearance helps the local community to actively participate in the search. We are working on the implementation of such a tool together with Facebook, the Juvenal Police and the Cyber Police of Ukraine.”
