In Zhytomyr region, charges of official violations during the extraction of granite rubble were referred to the court
Investigators of the Korosten District Department of the Zhytomyr region police have completed a pre-trial investigation into the wrongful acts of a specialized career employee. The man was accused of a number of illegal acts related to illegal mining and causing environmental damage totaling more than 1.3 million hryvnias.
Pre-trial investigation was conducted under Part 2 of Art. 367 (Civil negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation established illegal actions of an employee of a joint-stock company that specialized in subsoil extraction in Korosten district of Zhytomyr region. Thus, contrary to the suspension of special permits for the use of subsoil, the employee signed applications for work on the extraction of granite. So as a result of such illegal activity, stones in total more than 67.5 thousand tons were extracted from the deposit. At the same time, according to the conclusions of judicial examinations, the environment caused damage in the amount of more than 1.3 million hryvnias. At the moment, the amount of damage caused has been recovered.
The indictment in criminal proceedings for the above crime is referred to the court. Under the current legislation, the defendant may face from 2 to 5 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to 3 years and with the imposition of fines.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the Korosten District Police Department under the operational support of the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the region and under the procedural direction of the Korosten District Prosecutor's Office.
