In Zhytomyr region, police officers exposed the waste of almost a million budget funds during the repair of roads
On September 15, police investigators under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office announced a suspicion of appropriation of budget funds to the director of a contractor that carried out road repairs in several villages of Zhytomyr district. At present, it has been established that more than 950 thousand hryvnias were unreasonably transferred to the company due to the high cost of the work performed.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the police department No. 2 (m. Korostyshiv) of the Zhytomyr Regional Administration. Currently, it is established that in 2018, grafts
and repairs of street roads were carried out in the villages of Kharitonivka, Mamin, Rudni and Smolivka. Their results were formalized by relevant acts and certificates. However, the construction and technical examinations appointed by the investigators and conducted by the experts showed a significant overestimation of the amount of work actually performed and the costs for them. In total, in 8 cases, it is about the introduction of knowingly false information in official documents, which led to unjustified payments to the accounts of the contractor enterprise.
Thus, the wrongful actions of the head of the enterprise led to unjustified payments of budget funds to the accounts of the company in the total amount of UAH 958 524.
At the moment, investigators have informed a 62-year-old man that he is reasonably suspected of seizing other people's property by abusing his official position on a particularly large scale, that is, committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 5 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing. The sanction of the article provides for liability in the form of imprisonment for a period of 7 to 12 years.
