In Transcarpathia, police detained a man who attacked two young children
As a result of the accident in Berehovshchyna, a 9-year-old boy died, and an 8-year-old was hospitalized in the hospital. The driver, who was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication, was detained. Investigators opened criminal proceedings on this fact.
Yesterday, December 26, at about 20 o'clock, the line “102” received a report of a traffic accident on the street F. Rakocsi in the village of Serne, Beregovsky district.
The applicant noted that the driver of the car hit two children. Officers of the patrol police response team and the investigative and operational team immediately arrived at the scene. Medics who also arrived on call stated the death of one of the victims - a 9-year-old boy.
Another 8-year-old victim with a closed fracture of the hip joint was hospitalized in the hospital. Both children are residents of Beregovshchyna.
Police officers carried out all the necessary first-line investigative actions and established the preliminary circumstances of the accident.
It is known that the 34-year-old driver of the car “Audi”, while intoxicated, failed to control and ran into two underage pedestrians who were standing on the right edge the carriageway. After that, the attacker continued to move without stopping and after 300 meters drove into the fence. Investigators of the Beregovsky district police department on this fact entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e. Violation of traffic safety rules by persons driving vehicles in a state of intoxication. The driver was detained in due process and placed in a temporary hold isolator.
In the near future, he will be informed about the suspicion of committing this crime. Investigators will
also apply to the court to keep the defendant in custody for the period of investigation. The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison. The investigation in the case is ongoing.
