In Transcarpathia, police officers exposed members of a criminal group, the activities of which were organized and controlled by a “spy” at the detention center

The attackers “specialized” in collecting non-existent debts, part of the funds were given to the so-called thieving “commoner”. On March 29, the police detained four members of the group, and on March 31, the court took all of them into custody.

According to the investigation, the organizer is the so-called “spy” behind the detention center, convicted of robbery, who established and spread his criminal influence in the institution. There he found two accomplices who have ties to the criminal world and who were also convicted of robbery. Having freed themselves from the place of imprisonment, they under the control of the “monitor” were engaged in collecting non-existent debts from a citizen. Also, the organizer involved in illegal activities local criminal “authority”, which helped in freedom. Part of the funds from illegal activities “went” to replenish the so-called “thieving community”.

Thus, the operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Transcarpathian region, investigators of the Mukachevo Police Department and the Investigative Department of the Regional Police documented the fact of extortion of funds from a local resident. The attackers from the beginning threatened the victim with a massacre, and then inflicted bodily harm on him. The amount of funds “knocked out” was $2,000.

On March 29, law enforcement officers with the strong support of special officers of the KORD and a company of special purpose police detained four defendants under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. According to the results of searches conducted in the special institution and at the places of residence of the attackers, they seized: bank cards, cash, mobile phones, “rough” records of collecting funds for the so-called “community” and other things confirming illegal activities.

In addition, information was received that the “spy” together with another criminal “authority” provoked other persons to commit new crimes, violate the rules of conduct in the detention center, coordinated the funds received from illegal activities and appointed assistants.

On March 30, on the basis of the evidence received, the police informed the organizer and members of the group about the suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

- “surveillance” according to Part 2 of Art. 255-1 (establishment or dissemination of criminal influence in temporary detention centers, detention centers or penal institutions) and Part 3 of Article 27 (3) of Article 189 (extortion combined with violence, dangerous to the life or health of the person, or such that caused property damage in large quantities);

- criminal “authority” under Part 1 of Art. 255-1 (establishment or dissemination of criminal influence) and Part 3 of Art. 189;

- three participants of the OZG for part 5 of art. 27 part 2, part 3 of article. I'm 189.

Yesterday, March 31, the court took into custody a criminal “authority” and three members of the group.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the procedural management of which is carried out by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office.
