In Transcarpathia, police officers exposed a man who stole a currency exchange for more than half a million hryvnias

Police investigators reported a suspicion of a resident of the village of Kuchava, Mukachevo district, who is involved in the theft of money from an exchange office in Berehove. For his actions, he faces up to 8 years in prison.

Recently, the police received a report that in the city of Beregovo, along Mukachevskaya Street, an unknown person stole a currency exchange office. According to the results of the first-line investigative actions at the scene, the police established that a man broke into the exchanger, stole almost 600 thousand hryvnias in cash from the safe and disappeared in an unknown direction.

The police conducted operational work and established that a 27-year-old man who came from the neighboring Mukachevo district was involved in the crime. It is known that the defendant carefully prepared for the theft: for a long time he monitored the work schedule and the route of the cashier of the exchange office, chose a convenient time when the employee left the exchanger, and in a matter of minutes penetrated inside. It is also already known that the defendant left the scene of the crime with the stolen cash on a car of the brand “VAZ-2101”.

At the place of residence of the suspect, the police have already conducted a court-sanctioned search. In the course of the investigation, in one of the rooms under the bed, the police found cash in the amount of foreign currency in the amount of $5,600, locks for locks and clothing in which the attacker allegedly committed the crime and which was recorded by surveillance cameras.

Having collected enough evidence of the husband's involvement in the theft, the investigating police informed him of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Now the investigators are preparing a petition to the court to elect the defendant a preventive measure in the form of detention.

For the crime, the suspect faces up to 8 years in prison.
