More than 5 million hryvnias illegally cut down forests in Transcarpathia: police informed offenders about suspicions
The group's illegal activities were exposed by the operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Transcarpathian region together with the investigators of TU SBI.
The 61-year-old former forester, at the same time as an employee of the state forest protection body, involved an assistant and forester in the scheme in order to carry out illegal logging of the forest without the proper documents and contrary to the plan for carrying out sanitary felling. Wood was sold to third parties bypassing established standards. The amount of damage caused to the state is more than 5.3 million hryvnias.
In order to hide illegal actions, forestry workers drew up documents on the proper conduct of sanitary orders on a separate site.
The former forester was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 — Part 3 of Article 365 (excess of power or official authority by a law enforcement officer committed by a group of persons) and Part 1 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The assistant forester was declared a suspect under Part 2 of Art. 28 - Part 3 of Article 365, and the forester - for Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The procedural guidance in the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office.
