In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the court sentenced a group of persons engaged in the manufacture and sale of weapons
Recall that in March 2018, police and SBU employees in Khmelnytsky region with the help of representatives of the DVB and fighters of the special unit “KORD” exposed and detained a group of persons whose members were engaged in the illegal manufacture, processing and sale of firearms and ammunition on the territory of Ukraine.
For several months, the operatives developed a special operation to detain the “gunsmiths”, calculated possible storage locations of the arsenal, investigators planned and prepared searches.
In order to form the evidence base, law enforcement officers conducted a number of operational purchases of weapons, among which were the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Makarov pistol, a pistol with devices for silent firing, homemade devices for firing 5.6 mm caliber rounds and more than two hundred rounds of calibers width 9 mm.
During the authorized searches, the police discovered and seized an arsenal of weapons: 5 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 8 pistols of various brands, 4 rifles, 5 homemade firearms in the form of fountain pens, a significant number of different caliber rounds, combat grenades, about 700 g of tulle and cash.
In addition, a variety of parts, equipment and schemes for the manufacture and processing of weapons were seized from one of the members of the group.
Then three members of the criminal group were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. On December 13, the Kamianets-Podolsk City District Court sentenced two defendants in the proceedings. They were found guilty of committing crimes under Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition) and Article 263-1 (illegal manufacture, processing of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. One of them, who had already been prosecuted for the robbery, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. Another defendant received 5 years in prison with a release from serving a real sentence with a probation period.
The materials concerning the third defendant are still pending in court.
