In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, investigators of the National Police exposed the fact of illegal mining of minerals of national importance
Officials of one of the enterprises without permits extracted limestone, processed and sold it on the territory of Ukraine. The attackers face up to 12 years in prison.
Investigators of the Corruption Crimes Investigation Department of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, with the prompt support of the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police and the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, exposed and documented the illegal activities of officials of one of the enterprises of Khme Districts that illegally mined minerals of national importance.
During the pre-trial investigation, the police found that officials without proper permits extracted limestone in particularly large sizes from the quarry. Subsequently, the minerals were processed into limestone flour and sold throughout Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches in residential, office and industrial premises of the defendants. As a result, documents related to the illegal extraction, processing and sale of limestone were seized. Also, investigators discovered documents on the acquisition of real estate at the expense of funds received from illegal activities. In addition, computer equipment and mobile phones that contain information about the illegal activities of intruders have been seized.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out under Part 5 of Art. 191, Part 2 of Art. 209, Part 2 of Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the appropriation of property by abuse of official position, committed on a particularly large scale, the legalization (laundering) of proceeds obtained by criminal means of a large amount, as well as the illegal extraction of minerals of national importance, the defendants face up to 12 years imprisonment with deprivation of the right to exercise hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years and with the confiscation of property.
