In Khmelnytskyi region, police officers exposed the head of the territorial community in bribery
Employees of the Regional Directorate of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, together with the investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP in Khmelnytsky region, exposed the fact of extortion and receipt of illegal benefits by the head of one of the territorial communities of the region.
The official demanded $3,800 from the entrepreneur for influencing the decision of the executive committee to issue a permit to place billboards on the territory of the community.
At the time of receiving part of the desired amount (1300 US dollars), police officers detained the man in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to this fact, the investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 (Abuse of influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, obtaining an illegal benefit for oneself for influencing a decision by a person authorized to perform the functions of local self-government. The sanction of the article provides for a fine of seven hundred and fifty to one thousand five hundred minimum taxable incomes of citizens or imprisonment for a period of two to five years.
The issue of reporting suspicion and electing a precautionary measure to the official is currently being resolved. Employees of the SBU department in the region were involved in the special operation.
