Investigators of the police department No. 1 of the Khmelnytsky district police department together with cyber police officers documented the criminal activities of a 30-year-old man who sold passwords to access citizens' payment systems on hacker forums.

According to preliminary information, the attacker with the help of special software stole passwords to the accounts of payment systems and electronic wallets of citizens, formed the corresponding electronic databases and sold them on the forums. The database of the defendant included about 20 thousand credentials of the victims.

During the authorized search at the place of residence of the man, the police seized computer equipment and information carriers, which were sent for the relevant examinations. Currently, the police are carrying out all the necessary investigative and procedural actions to establish the number of victims and the amount of damage caused to them.

The police are investigating criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 361-2 (Unauthorized sale or distribution of information with restricted access stored in electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or on media of such information) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty - up to two years in prison. Investigative actions continue.
