In Vinnytsia region, the trustee of the “surveillance” correctional colony was informed of suspicion of spreading criminal influence and organization of drug trafficking
Investigators-detectives of the regional police, under the operational support of the Office of Strategic Investigations, announced the suspicion of spreading criminal influence and organization of drug traffic to the territory of the correctional colony to a repeatedly convicted offender who is serving a sentence for murder. According to available information, the patron “thief in law” controlled the contents of the so-called “thieves' community”, part of the funds of which went to finance the “authority”.
According to the pre-trial investigation, a 48-year-old resident of the Sumy region, who is serving a 15-year sentence for committing murder and illegal storage of weapons in a penal institution on the territory of the Vinnytsia region, has acquired the status of a person of criminal influence on the territory of this colony. This is the fifth conviction of a convicted person for committing serious crimes.
The investigation established that the convict coordinated criminal activities on the territory of the correctional colony, was the keeper and manager of the so-called “thieving community”. Some of the funds collected were transferred outside the institution to maintain the functioning of the criminal at large. In addition, he provided supplies to the territory of the institution of mobile phones, drugs and other prohibited things and objects, which he distributed among the convicts. The attacker also resolved disputes that arose between prisoners. So, he acted as a “justice of the peace” and made decisions on the punishment of the culprit.
The defendant was informed of the suspicion of establishing and spreading criminal influence in the institution serving sentences in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the organization of illegal acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale of narcotic drugs according to a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons, if the subject of such actions were particularly dangerous drugs in accordance with Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For such crimes, he faces another imprisonment of up to 15 years. The procedural management of the investigation is carried out by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
