In Ternopil region, the police detained the head of the regional department of the State Service of Food and Consumer Protection on a bribe
The official demanded and received $1,000 in improper benefits from the entrepreneur.
Yesterday, May 5, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Ternopil region of the National Police together with law enforcement colleagues detained an official for obtaining illegal benefits. $1,000 was given by the entrepreneur to the head of the department of the State Service of Food Safety and Consumer Protection, so that he would not interfere in his business.
The official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the choice of a precautionary measure.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Territorial Department of the SBI, located in the city. Lviv, under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office.
For extortion and receipt of illegal benefits, the current legislation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
