Ternopil region: Police exposed a group of fraudsters who deceived citizens under the guise of employment abroad
The group consisted of five people, including two organizers and three performers. The attackers deceived 192 people and appropriated one and a half million hryvnias.
The criminal “business” was organized by spouses from Ternopol. The group included three more accomplices. The organizers created several law firms to provide employment mediation services abroad. During the pre-trial investigation, the police found that the company did not have licenses for this type of activity.
Fraudsters searched 192 citizens who intended to work abroad. The amount of damage caused to the victims is one and a half million hryvnias.
The employees of the Migration Police Department together with the investigators of the Civil Service of the National Police and police officers of the Ternopil region exposed the criminal activity of the attackers. The events took place under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Law enforcement officers conducted a number of authorized searches of the places of residence of the defendants and seized physical evidence confirming their criminal activities.
At the moment, four defendants have been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. At present, the issue of electing defendants a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. Investigative actions continue.
