About 20,000 pilgrims are expected to arrive in Ukraine for the celebration of the Jewish New Year, who will go in organized groups
All pilgrims go to the city of Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. This year, the Jewish New Year falls on September 6-8
The issue of organization of registration at the state border of pilgrims was discussed today in the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine by First Deputy Head of the State Border Service Volodymyr Nikiforenko and Deputy Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Joav Bystrytsky.
As Volodymyr Nikiforenko noted, the measures taken by Israel for citizens' trips to Ukraine are very important and effective. Ukrainian border guards record a significant number of people arriving by organized flights with vaccination documents.
Special attention was paid to the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service on the importance of preventing violations of Ukrainian legislation when crossing the state border, because violators will incur appropriate punishment.
Joav Bystrytsky expressed gratitude for the organization of registration of Israeli citizens at the airport “Boryspil”. He also stressed the importance of mutual security of the countries to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including during the pilgrimage to Ukraine.
The Deputy Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine noted that Israel has introduced mandatory presence of a negative PCR test for citizens traveling to Ukraine. He also noted good joint information work on informing Israeli citizens about the procedure for crossing the state border of Ukraine.
In addition, effective cooperation was organized between the Ministries of Health of Ukraine and Israel
It should be noted that since August 30, border guards have executed registration of more than 3 thousand Hasidic pilgrims. Over the past day, more than 1,350 pilgrims crossed the state codon at the checkpoints “Lviv”, “Krakivets”, “Shehyni”, “Solotvyno”, “Luzhanka”, “Porubne”, “Boryspil”, “Platonovo”, “Odessa-Avia”. In total, about 20,000 pilgrims are expected to arrive in Ukraine, who will travel in organized groups.
According to Joav Bystrytska, the first organized return flights should take place on the night of September 9.
