Police seized 55 million hryvnias worth of drugs in Sumy region
Investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Sumy region together with the operational officers of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Sumy region of the DSR NP of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, exposed the illegal activity of a group of persons who grew and stored a particularly dangerous drug cannabis in the territory of the city of Hlukhov.
In the course of the investigation, it was established that at the beginning of 2021, the participants of the group, by disguising themselves as legal production activities, organized the process of growing a particularly dangerous drug cannabis on the territory of the state-owned enterprise in the city of Glukhov. To do this, they used special lighting lamps and individual drip irrigation.
Yesterday, 13 raids were carried out by the officers of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Sumy region and the operatives of the USSR in the Sumy region with the involvement of employees of the special unit “CORD” of the GUNP, the specialists of the criminal specialists of the GUNP in the Sumy region, the inspector of the department for combating cybercrimes in the Sumy region of the Department of Cyber Police of the NP of Ukraine persons in the territory of Sumy and Kyiv regions in the premises where the cultivation and storage of the drug was carried out, at the places of residence of persons who may be involved in the commission of a crime, at their places of work and in vehicles.
According to the results of searches, law enforcement officers seized 72 cannabis bushes, a bundle of hemp seeds, mobile phones, documentation, cash, “rough” records, a system unit, a laptop, bank cards.
Another search has now been completed, during which 1554 plastic bags and boxes with a substance of plant origin that looks like cannabis were found in the warehouse. The weight of each of them is from 5.5 kg to 60 kg. The value of the “black” market withdrawn at prices is more than 55 million hryvnias.
The question of the imposition of arrest on the seized property is being resolved.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues), part 3 of Art. 309 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues without the purpose of marketing), part 2 of Art. 310 (Sowing or cultivation of dreamy poppy or hemp) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
