In Rivne region, members of a criminal organization headed by a “spy” from one of the districts will be tried
The group “specialized” in extortion and theft of property. The total amount of damage caused to citizens reaches one million hryvnias.
The activities of the criminal organization were exposed by the operatives of the department of strategic investigations in Rivne region, investigators of the regional police together with the employees of the USBU. Law enforcement officers have established that the activities of the criminal organization was organized by a 40-year-old repeatedly convicted so-called “spy” in one of the regions of the region, who is currently choosing a preventive measure in the form of non-alternative detention. Among his accomplices are people from different regions of Ukraine, some of whom also have connections with the criminal environment.
In the course of the investigation, the operatives and investigators received evidence of their involvement in two facts of extortion of funds from citizens and six episodes of theft of property worth more than a million hryvnias.
On Wednesday, August 11, the indictment, in agreement with the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office, was sent to the Kuznetsov City Court. The leader of the criminal organization and four of his accomplices are charged with committing the crimes provided for in Part 5 of Art. 185 (Theft), Part 4 of Article 189 (extortion), Parts 2 and 5 of Article 255 (creation and participation in a criminal organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
For a crime committed, offenders may face from 12 to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
