In Poltava region, law enforcement officers stopped the activities of a criminal group suspected of possession of liquefied gas
Investigators of the Poltava region police in cooperation with the employees of the Regional Directorate of SBU, under the procedural guidance of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, with the assistance of the security service of PJSC “NAK” “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, exposed a criminal group, which included officials of the mining company gas. During the operational-search and investigative actions on April 27, police and USBU officers stopped vehicles with which accomplices tried to illegally remove liquefied gas from an industrial facility owned by a joint-stock company.
Ivan Vyhivskyi, Poltava region police chief, said:
“In the course of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the officials of the joint-stock company took possession of liquefied gas by entering false information in official documents about the volumes of acceptance - transfer and use of fuel. Subsequently, the accomplices sold fuel through a network of gas stations in Poltava and other regions. During the court-sanctioned searches, investigators seized more than 2.2 million hryvnias, documents and tools for committing criminal activity”.
According to this fact, the investigator of the Poltava region police, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, investigates criminal proceedings opened according to the qualifying signs of part 3 of Article 191 (Appropriation of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. As part of the criminal proceedings, 20 sanctioned searches were carried out in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk regions at the place of residence of the defendants and in the locations of legal addresses of companies through which the sale of liquefied gas was carried out. Physical evidence confirming the group's criminal activities is seized.
The investigation is ongoing. In case of proof of guilt by the court, offenders face from 3 to 8 years in prison.
