In Poltava region, police officers have exposed persons in illegal fishing worth about 1.5 million hryvnias

On September 9, at the Kremenchug reservoir, near the village of Hradizhsk, police officers of the local district police department, together with employees of the State Environmental Inspectorate, discovered violations of the rules of industrial capture of aquatic living biological resources.

At the scene of the incident, the investigative and operational group of the department No. 1 of the Kremenchuk regional police department found more than 200 kilograms of fish. According to preliminary estimates, the fishing industry of Ukraine suffered losses in the amount of about one and a half million hryvnias.

The catch was carried out by an industrial vessel, which belongs to one of the fishing and agricultural subdivisions of Poltava region. The violators used fishing nets with a total length of about 400 meters.

According to this fact, police investigators, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, initiated criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 249 (Employment of illegal fishing) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are ongoing.
