More than 2.5 thousand law enforcement officers intervened to protect public security and order in Odessa on May 1 and 2
This morning, a joint briefing of all the security forces of the region was held at Kulikovo Field, which will serve on holidays and commemorative days.
The head of the police of the region Oleg Bekh and his deputy Sergey Makhotin conducted a structural inspection of the personnel and checked the readiness of the security forces to act as assigned in a strengthened mode.
The head of the police noted that the internal affairs units, which are involved in the protection of public order in Odessa today and tomorrow, had a double burden. Thematic May Day events, Easter celebrations, events about the tragic events that took place in 2014 are enough challenges. And the task of law enforcement agencies is to ensure the peaceful course of all events and the tranquility of residents and guests of the city.
“I expect you to react as quickly as possible to the slightest provocation or misunderstanding among people. Your actions should be coordinated and professional, aimed at stopping illegal manifestations and resolving conflict situations,” said Oleg Bech.
It was also emphasized on the mandatory observance and implementation of preventive measures to comply with quarantine restrictions and the implementation of the law on decommunization and prevention of the use of prohibited symbols.
