In Odesa region, law enforcement officers detained the head of a public organization for extorting money from entrepreneurs
The issue of declaring suspicion to the attacker and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is resolved.
The 44-year-old offender, disguised as a public activity, demanded from the woman a monthly fee - 80,000 hryvnias - for the so-called crumbling of the business. For failing to comply with his demand, he threatened the 39-year-old victim with physical abuse and destruction of property belonging to her.
The woman immediately called the police. The investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Regional Police, together with the employees of the Odessa District Police Department No. 2 under the procedural leadership of the Bilyayev District Prosecutor's Office, engaged in the collection of the evidence base of the illegal activities of the attacker.
On June 3, the man was detained immediately after receiving the second part of the money that he demanded from the victim, with the support of the special forces of KORD and special police officers.
The attacker has repeatedly come into the police's sights due to hooliganism, illegal handling of weapons and violence against police officers.
In the course of an authorized search of his place of residence and work, law enforcement officers seized money obtained by criminal means and other material evidence of his illegal activities.
Currently, the issue of declaring the defendant suspected of extortion and detention is being resolved in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For what he has done, he is threatened with imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
