In Lviv region, members of the group reported suspicions of armed robberies, torture and murder of people
Assailants with firearms and cold weapons carried out brutal attacks on residents' homes and office premises. Demanding money and valuables, they bound and tortured the victims, from their injuries two of them died.
As the police established, the perpetrators are residents of the Lviv and Rivne regions and the city of Kiev previously convicted of serious crimes. They carefully prepared for crimes and committed them according to the approved scenario. The cars that were used in the commission of these crimes were burned. In addition, all material evidence that could lead to this grouping was destroyed.
In May 2021, on the Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway, the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Lviv region with the involvement of the special unit KORD detained three active participants of the criminal group. In July - two more of its participants. During their detention, they resisted police officers. Five attackers were then informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the actions of two were qualified under Part 2 of Art. 345 (intentional infliction of bodily harm to an employee of a law enforcement agency in connection with the performance of official duties by this employee) of the Criminal Code The Code of Ukraine.
During the investigation, the operatives and investigators of the Lviv Police Investigative Department received evidence of the involvement of the perpetrators in six facts of criminal activity - thefts, robberies in the territory of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Kharkiv regions. The defendants seized funds totaling more than UAH 12 million. During the armed attacks, the victims were tortured, as a result of which two citizens died.
On the basis of the evidence obtained, the actions of the members of the group were additionally qualified according to the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 3 of Art. 28 para. 6, 12, 13 part 2 of Article 115 (intentional murder committed for selfish motives, by a previous conspiracy by a group of persons who previously committed intentional murder, and such that committed as part of an organized criminal group); - parts 3 and 5 of Art. 185 (theft committed by a previous conspiracy of a group of persons, combined with penetration into a dwelling, other premises);
- Part 3 and 4 of Article 187 (robbery combined with penetration into a dwelling, other premises, committed by an organized group causing grievous bodily harm).
All suspects are currently in detention center. Offenders can face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property or life imprisonment.
