The course for snipers of this type was held in the National Guard for the first time. Instructors of the Joint Operational and Tactical Group of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine (Operation “UNIFIER”) provided significant assistance in its organization and conduct. Guard snipers gained a lot of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

They practiced all stages of sniping, from the selection and arrangement of the sniper position, covert movement and camouflage, military topography and ending with the improvement of practical skills in conducting fire for various purposes and its adjustment.

“It was a difficult course, you should only be proud of taking this course, in the future we will have the standards that you have been taught now, so be very proud. Sniper business is always developed technologies and techniques. Keep in mind that you need to learn all the time, practice all the time. So continue in the same spirit as during the course,” Colonel Mykola Sherstyuk, the head of the coordination service of the sniper training of the NGU State University, told the guards. The snipers gained persistent skills and improved their skills, adopted the training program according to the NATO system and transferred Canadian colleagues gained experience in combat operations, and the National
Guard in turn passed the next stage of development of cooperation with Operation UNIFIER.

At each stage of preparation, the participants of the course, after mastering the theory and practice, passed the test standards for the implementation of which they had only a few attempts. The result of the preparation was the implementation of a complex tactical task.

“Further, the responsibility for the development of sniping in the National Guard lies with you. This course has been hard and the work will be hard too, but your enemies, our enemies, do not sleep. I wish you the best in your discipline and good service when you return to your units,” said the representative of the Canadian side. The Canadian instructors of Operation “UNIFIER” conducted classes and provided comprehensive training standardization assistance during the
training course. Theoretical knowledge was combined with practical knowledge. Such tasks as navigating the terrain without topographic devices, surreptitiously moving to the sniper position and disguising according to environmental conditions, and most importantly, to conduct high-precision shooting at long distances are no longer a problem for trained snipers. The new course was the basis for the creation of a basic sniper training curriculum that would meet NATO standards.

After drawing up standards and completing the final comprehensive sniper task with combat shooting, cadets received certificates and certificates of passing a special sniper training course. The best of them were given special awards.
