In Kyiv region, police detained a criminal group that stole premium cars
The four men specialized in the theft of elite vehicles on the territory of Brovary and Boryspil districts.
The criminal activities of the men were exposed by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Investigative Department of the Kyiv Police Department together with special assignments under the procedural leadership of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
It was established that the organizer of the illegal activity was a 26-year-old Kyiv resident, who has already been brought to criminal responsibility for similar crimes and is now under investigation for drug trafficking.
Law enforcement officers conducted 6 authorized searches of the places of residence of the defendants and in their cars and seized: crime weapons, license plates, narcotic substances, bank cards, mobile phones.
Car thieves were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Currently, there is evidence of the involvement of men in the commission of 5 episodes of thefts of cars of the brands “Toyota” and “Mitsubishi”. They turned out to be new moons between 26 and 31 years old. All of them are natives of Chernihiv region. Some of them have been convicted before.
Investigators of the procedural leadership of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office informed the car thieves about the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years with or without confiscation of property. The issue of declaring suspicion to detainees is being resolved. The preventive measure will be chosen by the court.
