In Kyiv region, police reported on suspicion of members of a robber gang who seized a diamond worth 400 thousand dollars
On January 6, a message about the abduction of people was sent to the special line “102”. The victim explained that unknown people in masks on Skoda cars forcibly stopped his car, broke windows, tied him up and, threatened with weapons, took passengers with them, after which they disappeared from the scene in two cars.
As it turned out, the victim, at the request of a foreign friend, agreed on the sale of a precious diamond on the territory of Ukraine, met in Kiev with persons who were supposed to carry out assessment and further assistance in the sale of the stone, and then went to Obukhiv region. On the road, the men were attacked by 4 people in balaclavas with weapons, seized the jewels, and the victims were later left on the road.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kyiv Region, the Investigative Department, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, it was possible to promptly detain the organizer of the gang and one of the active participants - residents of Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi region.
Law enforcement officers seized Skoda and Mazda cars used by the attackers, as well as Toyota cars used by them for reconnaissance.
On April 20, the police of Kyiv region, together with colleagues from Lviv, found and detained two more attackers — 26 and 23-year-old residents of the capital. The defendants were exposed in a rented apartment where they hid.
In general, at the place of residence of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized an explosive device and more than 1 kg of explosives - plastid.
At the moment, the attackers have been informed of the suspicion of Art. 146 (Unlawful Imprisonment or Abduction of a Person) and Art. 187 (Robbery), str. 257 (Banditism) and Art. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty that threatens offenders is imprisonment from ten to fifteen years. The court will choose a preventive measure for them.
