In Kirovohrad region, a group of “black lumberjacks” destroyed a forest log for 700 thousand hryvnias — internal security of the National Police
An organized group of residents of the Kirovograd region was engaged in illegal chopping of so-called “business” wood. Among the attackers — previously convicted of robbery and hooliganism. Internal security officers of the National Police, together with investigators and special officers of the regional police, detained the group.
On the territory of protective forest plantations belonging to the regional branch of “Odessa Railway”, a group of persons engaged in illegal logging of roundwood forest, possibly with the assistance of law enforcement officers — such information was received by the operatives of the Kirovograd department of the Department of Internal Security of the NPU.
During the inspection, the involvement in criminal activities of law enforcement officers was not confirmed. The group was organized from among residents of Kirovograd region, aged 22 to 27, among whom were previously convicted of robberies and hooliganism.
A persistent criminal group with a clear distribution of roles destroyed liquid wood during 2020-2021. The accomplices sold the forest round to order to individuals and in local markets. According to preliminary estimates, the attackers caused material damage in the amount of almost 700,000 hryvnias.
According to the internal security materials of the National Police, the investigators of the SU GUNP in the Kirovograd region, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kirovograd region, entered the information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 4 of Art. 246 (Illegal chopping or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The joint actions of UDVB NPU operatives, investigators and special purpose police of Kirovograd police organized an ambush and detained five members of the group “hot”. Loggers and saws vehicle seized. At their place of residence in Novoukrainsk district, authorized searches were carried out, sawn wood prepared for sale was found and seized.
In the procedural order, the intruders were detained. Investigators of the Kirovohrad region police are preparing to hand over suspicion to those involved. If proven guilty, they may face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
