In Donetsk region, law enforcement officers exposed the organizers of the network of sales of surrogate alcohol
An organized criminal group of three people will appear before the court, which has established large-scale production and sale of counterfeit alcoholic beverages in the territory of Mariupol. The pre-trial investigation is completed, the indictment against the defendants is sent to court.
The police departments of criminal investigation and investigation department (detectives) of Donetsk region together with the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office and with the support of the special unit KORD exposed a criminal group consisting of a 33-year-old organizer of “business” and two of her accomplices.
Three Mariupol residents aged 34-54 during June-November 2020 were engaged in the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit alcohol, which was supplied to stores, and also had their own points of sale.
The illegal product under the guise of famous brands of vodka and cognac was produced in an underground workshop located in the garage.
Law enforcement officers conducted 30 searches in the places of manufacture, storage and sale of alcohol-containing products, as well as at the place of residence of the participants of the OZG.
They seized 150 liters of finished products in plastic and glass containers, as well as equipment and impurities that were used to produce the surrogate, draft records and checks that confirm the criminal activity of the offenders.
Members of the group are incriminated by Part 3 of Article 28, Part 1, 2 of Article 204 (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods committed by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The property of the accused was seized in the amount of about 495,000 hryvnias. They face up to five years in prison.
