In Donetsk region, the police together with the SBU announced the suspicion of organizing a criminal plot to five criminal authorities
The former and new “spies” of one of the correctional colonies of Donetsk region and three other members of the criminal community are brought to criminal responsibility. This is the first case in the region opened under the new article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on combating the spread of criminal influence.
As a result of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that a criminal arrest took place in February 2021 in a correctional institution in Donetsk region. Five authorities took part in the criminal gathering, four of whom are serving sentences in the colony, another is a “spy” of one of the cities of the region.
The former “spy” of the colony took part in the shooting - a 36-year-old authority figure, repeatedly convicted of causing grievous bodily harm, robbery, disorganization of the work of penal institutions and other crimes. He has been in a correctional institution since 2018.
He resigned his powers and nominated his successor for approval. Persons exerting influence on the criminogenic situation in the region have elected a new leader who controls the so-called “commons”, appoints “spies” from various directions, and his decisions are mandatory for execution by prisoners.
Employees of the Investigative Department of the Donetsk Oblast Police, together with the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, documented the criminal event and all its participants. A number of examinations, searches, and other investigative actions were carried out.
Five persons were informed of suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 255-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organization, assistance in conducting or participating in a criminal assembly (shooting). Suspects face from 7 to 12 years in prison.
