In Donetsk region, the National Guards used weapons at the checkpoint
In Donetsk region, in order to detain the offender who broke through the checkpoint, the military outfit of the National Guard of Ukraine from the United Forces was forced to use firearms. The incident took place on December 8 at one of the checkpoints near Mariupol.
During the service at the stop control, a military outfit stopped a Chevrolet car for inspection. The driver, who was with obvious signs of intoxication, ignored the guards' legal requirements for inspection and made an attempt to break through the checkpoint. The driver did not respond to a warning shot into the air. In this regard, in order to stop the car, according to Article 18 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Guard of Ukraine”, the servicemen were forced to use firearms by shooting at the wheels.
After that, the offender, who turned out to be a 39-year-old resident of Donetsk region, was detained. To clarify all the circumstances, the investigative and operational team of the Mariupol District Police Department was called to the scene of the incident.
Recall that the work of units of the National Guard of Ukraine in the area of the Joint Forces is aimed at countersabotage measures, inspection of vehicles, documents and verification of persons on the basis of search in order to stop the illegal transportation of weapons, ammunition, narcotic substances and to identify persons who violated the laws of Ukraine.
During the week from December 6 to 9, the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine, within the framework of isolation and containment measures at mobile and stationary checkpoints in the area of the operation of the United Forces, checked more than 30 thousand vehicles and more than 38 thousand people. During the inspection, the soldiers found 95 offenders. Among them, 90 people committed administrative offenses, and 5 people were detained and handed over to police officers on suspicion of committing criminal offenses, two of them on suspicion of participation or creation of illegal armed groups.
It is worth noting, among the most common offenses are the participation of persons in illegal armed formations, the illegal production, manufacture, purchase, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, the importation of non-excisable goods, the theft of other people's property, the use of false documents, the implementation of transactions with scrap metal and illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest.
