19 communities joined the project “Police officer of the community” in Donetsk region
38 police officers, who were selected as a result of an open competition, take care of the safety of residents. Six more future “sheriffs” undergo the necessary specialization. The police are attracting new territorial communities to the security project: it is planned that residents of each TG will have a high-quality police service within a year.
In Donetsk region, community police officers together with heads of territorial police units held presentations of the project “Community Police Officer” in Mirnogradskaya, Dobropilska, Kryvorizhia and Novodonetsk TG.
Law enforcement officers talked about the advantages of the project, positive examples of work, demonstrated service cars and equipment used by community officers in everyday activities.
The peculiarity of the project is its focus exclusively on the needs of the community. The officer works only on the territory of the community and solves the problems of its inhabitants. And the constant presence of police in TG makes it possible to respond to calls in the shortest possible time.
So, in September, the police officer of the Liman community Dmitry Mazurov quickly responded to the accident and helped the victims. The car on a slippery road crashed into a cuvette and overturned, the driver and two passengers were seriously injured. A law enforcement officer found a tractor that towed the overturned car, and took the injured to the nearest hospital.
The parties discussed the terms of cooperation. The community provides a workplace for a police officer and makes available a community-owned utility vehicle.
In turn, the “sheriffs” are fully focused on creating a safe environment and perform a wide range of tasks - responding to messages, protecting public order, countering domestic violence, working with young people, and participating together with residents in the life of the community. Officers report their work to the community.
Today, 19 communities in Donetsk region have already joined the “Community Police Officer” project.
