As established by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Dnipropetrovsk region of the National Police, a resident of the city of Nikopol organized illegal fishing. He involved family and close friends in the activity. The intruders illegally caught fish in the water area of the Kakhovsky reservoir in the city. Nikopol. They went fishing mostly at night. More than a ton of fish was obtained in one trip to the water. In the future, it was sold to underground processing shops, from where the products entered the consumer market.
Law enforcement officers conducted 29 authorized searches of fish storage and processing sites, as well as at the place of residence of the defendants and in their vehicles. More than 5 tons of fish and fish products, 126 nets and 4 echo sounders, 8 boats and boats, “rough” documentation were seized. The total value of the seized property reaches UAH 4.5 million.
Investigative and operational measures are currently being carried out to notify all persons involved in illegal activities of suspicions.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings opened under Art. 28 part 2 of Art. 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is carried out by investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
Illegal employment in the fishing industry can be threatened with up to three years in prison.
