In Dnipropetrovsk region, police detained a criminal group for a series of thefts from an enterprise of strategic importance for the economy and security of the state
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police detained seven active members of the criminal group during the theft of the power equipment of the main transformer of the traction unit, which is used for mining. In addition, the involvement of intruders in a series of similar crimes was established. The amount of damage as a result of their illegal activities amounts to seven million hryvnias.
Yesterday, April 6, during the operational support of criminal proceedings, police detained a criminal group with signs of organization in Kryvyi Rih. It consisted of seven people, including the guards of the specified enterprise. The attackers committed theft of mining equipment on the territory of the enterprise, which is of strategic importance for the economy and security of the state. The arrest occurred immediately after the defendants committed theft of the power equipment of the main transformer of the traction unit (single-phase industrial electric locomotive). The amount of damage is about one million hryvnias.
The special operation was carried out by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Investigative Department of the Dnipropetrovsk Police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of the Dnipropetrovsk region and with the strong support of special purpose regiment employees.
So far, the police have conducted 30 sanctioned searches, during which they have recovered physical evidence confirming the involvement of the group members in a series of similar crimes, as well as the equipment they used and cars. The amount of damage caused is seven million hryvnias.
The attackers were informed of suspicions under Part 3 of Art. 186 (Robbery) and part 4 of Art. 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures for them is being decided. The defendants face up to eight years in prison.
