In Bukovina, law enforcement officers exposed poachers who seized illegal catch worth almost 1.7 million hryvnias

During preventive raids within the village of Neporotovo, Dniester district, the police officers, together with the fish guard patrol, found and seized 166 specimens of verizub fish. This species is considered rare and endangered, therefore it is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

During the patrol and survey of the Dniester reservoir in the Kelmenets district, the police, together with the inspectors of the fish protection patrol, exposed two citizens who illegally caught fish during the spawning ban, among which an endangered species is the verytooth, which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. The men carried out their illegal activities within the village of Neporotovo, using a metal boat and prohibited fishing tools.

The amount of damage caused to the state is almost 1.7 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement officers documented illegal actions of offenders and drew up protocols on them under Part 4 of Art. 85 (Violation of the rules for the use of objects of the animal world) and Art. 90 (Violation of requirements for the protection of animal and plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
