The Ministry of Internal Affairs legally, efficiently and fully uses funds from the Fund to combat COVID-19
On June 9, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated UAH 800 million from the state budget to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine through the funds provided for under the program “Measures related to the fight against acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and its consequences”.
The funds will be used to make additional payments to police officers, guards, border guards and rescuers who are at risk to health, most in contact with the population during daily duty during the quarantine period. Also, payments will be made to medical workers of health institutions belonging to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who are directly engaged in the work to eliminate the disease on COVID-19.
This is the first decision in 2021. In the future, the Government will make similar decisions to support the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Every day, its units are at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus. So, for the entire period of the epidemic, more than 52 thousand people fell ill in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and 246 people died from the consequences of the disease. In the past week alone, the number of patients increased by 78 people.
In 2020, UAH 4 billion 708.5 million was issued from the COVID-19 Fund for the needs of all central executive bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In order to verify the legality, efficiency and completeness of the use of these funds, an audit of the State Audit Service of Ukraine was carried out. In general, it confirmed the legality of the use of public finances.
Certain minor financial irregularities, amounting to UAH 26.5 million, which represents only 0.6 percent of the total amount of funds issued by the auditors, were either eliminated during the audit or appealed in the legal procedure established by law. Certain conclusions were declared illegal and the requirements of the regional departments of the State Audit Service to the institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were canceled.
The departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to effectively carry out tasks related to epidemiological measures in the country, daily contact and ensure the vital activity of the population during quarantine restrictions.
