The Minister of Internal Affairs held a meeting with the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for human rights in order to strengthen cooperation in ensuring guarantees of state protection of constitutional rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens.

“I am firmly convinced not only of the need to continue working together in previously defined vectors, but also in strengthening it. Therefore, I propose to the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner to join the Council of the Ministry, as well as jointly conduct monitoring visits. This will identify systematic violations of human rights and develop ways to solve them. Such steps will bring the issue of human rights observance in the activities of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to a qualitatively new level,” the head of the law enforcement agency said.

Denis Monastyrskyi stressed that the Ministry is ready to continue to work within the framework of the implementation of the “CUSTODY RECORDS” system and hopes for the participation of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in the implementation of this initiative. (“CUSTODY RECORDS” - a system aimed at protecting and observing the rights and freedoms of detainees, recording all actions that occur with detainees).

The Minister of Internal Affairs thanked Lyudmila Denisova for cooperation and took the initiative to approve a joint action plan, which will become a roadmap.
