The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the International Committee of the Red Cross signed a Memorandum of Cooperation
Today, September 2, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, Florence Gillette.
The Parties agreed to deepen cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross and signed the relevant Memorandum.
Denis Monastyrsky thanked the representatives of the ICRC for successful cooperation with the bodies and departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and stressed the readiness for further implementation of joint projects.
In recent years, the ICRC has held a number of trainings, seminars, information events on the topic: “International Humanitarian Law and International Rules and Standards of Law Enforcement”. The relevant courses were also attended by employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The Minister of Internal Affairs stressed the importance of further cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the following areas:
- accession of the ICRC to the project on psychological rehabilitation of combatants and to the project on the implementation of a transparent system of accounting of persons held in custody (Custody Records);
- conducting training for specialists of the National Guard of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine on anti-mine activities and counteraction against improvised explosive devices;
- Strengthening cooperation with the State Research Expert and Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
- equipping National Police officers in Luhansk and Donetsk regions with devices for detecting burials of human remains (special search equipment) and conducting appropriate training for criminal police officers of Kiev and Mariupol, who are engaged in the search for missing persons and unidentified bodies.
