This was stated by the interior minister during a meeting of rescuers who returned from fighting fires in Greece.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs is developing a project to create a Center for Combating Natural Disasters, which will work in Ukraine, and then help Europe in overcoming emergencies,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

The head of the law enforcement agency thanked rescuers for eliminating fires in Greece and expressed hope that the experience gained will be useful in the service of the state.

“Greetings to you, gunfighters! We are here to celebrate your contribution to the defense of not only the Ukrainian land, but now also the fight against fire in Greece. Last year, Ukraine also faced a difficult element. This year, such a fate befell Turkey and Greece. And it is extremely gratifying that you have been able to help other countries in this difficult struggle. I am convinced that the strength of the SNS and your experience - the best representatives of this service, will continue to serve Ukraine,” he said.

The head of the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechotkin stressed that by the efforts of Ukrainians, the slogan “Glory to Ukraine” became a symbol of the fight against the fire element.

“Dear rescuers, I welcome you to your Motherland! Thank you for your dedication, hundreds of lives saved. You have repeatedly improved the image of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service,” he stressed.

Right at the airfield, rescuers were met by wives and children. Already today, Ukrainians who have become heroes for the Greeks will be at home with their families.

More than 100 Ukrainian firefighters have helped extinguish fires in Greece since August 6. Forest fires in the country arose due to record heat and human actions.

Since the beginning of the work, the assembled unit of the State Emergency Service has eliminated individual fire foci on the front of more than 19 thousand meters, up to 60 m deep, eliminated a low-level fire on an area of 1.7 hectares and a top area of 350 square meters, saved 2 settlements of Spatari and Metokha, in particular: 27 residential buildings, cult building, 33 farm buildings, granary, dog shelter, 54 beehives and a flock of sheep. Near m. Camatriades saved a residential building, 2 outbuildings, 13 hives, 23 hectares of olive and fig orchard.

Recall that on August 15, the aircraft of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine returned from the Republic of Turkey, where rescuers provided assistance in extinguishing large-scale forest fires.
