Today, December 7, during the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. At the Children Summit, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ekaterina Pavlichenko spoke about the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police in the sphere of protection of children's rights.
“It is important that the safety of the child is not only a matter for parents, the police or a separate school. Children should be protected from the effects of street morality, any forms of violence, including domestic violence. This issue should be a priority for all departments, ministries and society in general,” Ekaterina Pavlichenko stressed.
According to her, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with partners, is implementing a number of projects aimed at creating infrastructure for the safety of children. Inspectors of juvenile prevention, school officers are involved in the work in educational institutions. The projects “Safe School”, “Safety Educator”, “Barnahus”, prevention of drug addiction and deviant behavior in schoolchildren are in the active phase.
“The implementation of these projects will allow citizens to build an educational environment free from bullying, child crime and any form of violence. We are strengthening the police presence in schools, currently police units and crews are building their routes in such a way that they drive around schools more often. We also involve rescuers who conduct lessons and work with parents,” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since the beginning of 2021, more than 13,000 reports of missing children have been received by the police. More than 96% of them were found in the first hours on hot trails. This year, more than 3 thousand crimes against children have been committed, almost the same number of crimes committed by children themselves. Every 4 hours, police officers draw up a protocol on administrative offenses for the sale of alcohol and tobacco products to minors.
“We have ensured effective communication with the administration of the most popular social networks to remove content that promotes the cult of violence and cruelty. Since the beginning of the year, 97 thematic communities have been blocked. There is also a chatbot that has already blocked more than 2500 telegram channels,” the deputy minister said.
She also said that a change is currently being made to the CPC in terms of the procedure for interrogating minors and those affected by violence.
“The key to improving negative trends lies in the cooperation and coordinated work of various departments, international partners, the public sector and the deputy corps,” concluded Kateryna Pavlichenko.
Recall, the Ministry of Internal Affairs approved recommendations on the functional duties of the security specialist in the educational environment and the requirements for candidates for the position.
